Progress Swimming Academy was established in 2000 by Heine Alberts and Douggie Eagar. The Academy has grown from humble beginnings to the 8th strongest club in SA. In 2010 at the SA National Winter Championships Progress was awarded the trophies for the best senior club at these championships amongst strong competition!
Since its formation PSA has placed at least one swimmer on a South African National team each year. The most famous member of the PSA squad is Lyndon Ferns, who after becoming a national senior champion went on to win gold at the 2004 Olympic Games. The latest success story is Heinrich Alberts who won 5 medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games held on the Isle of Man in September 2011
